LEON D’ORO BELLINZONA
Private competition – 1st prize Bellinzona 2020 – 2022
Nicola Probst Architetti achieved 1st prize in the private competition for the new Leon D’oro sector, Municipality of Bellinzona, Switzerland.
The project involves the construction and renovation of the Leon d’Oro area in Bellinzona, an entire city area located in a strategic position in front of the central station. We therefore want to resolve a situation that has been degraded for some time and regenerate an area which, given its strategic position, is of vital importance for the City of Bellinzona.
The heart of the project is a new square for public use and new urban pedestrian connections that will connect the new square with Viale Stazione and Via Cancelliere Molo.
The new buildings will be for mixed commercial, administrative and residential use.
The project also involves the renovation of the Ex Gioconda building and its conversion into a hotel structure. The recently restored Ex Vögele building will be integrated into the new urban area.
